If you don't already have OnePager, click the button above to download a free trial. Then, follow these instructions to get started:

  1. In this example, we have an Asana portfolio which consists of three projects: Project A, Project B, and Project C:

    Portfolio of projects in Asana

  2. Begin by opening the first project, which in this example is Project A. Once open, switch to the List view:

First project in an Asana portfolio

  3. Click on the Show Fields button and see if you already have a field called OnePager in your Asana account. If so add it to your project. If not, click on Manage custom fields instead:

Add a custom field to Asana

  4. If you already found the OnePager field in the previous skip, skip to the next step. If you don't see it, click on Add custom field. From there, click on Choose from library to see if the field is available. If it isn't, then choose the Create new option and then add a new Single-select field called OnePager with Yes/No values, like this:

Create a custom field in Asana to drive which tasks are imported into OnePager.

  5. With the OnePager field inserted into your Asana project, place a "Yes" next to the summary tasks in Project A. This will let you quickly summarize the major phases of your project:

    Asana project with Yes/No field.

  6. Repeat the task selection for the remaining projects in your porftolio. In the example, we'll select the same summary tasks from Project B and Project C.

  7. Now it's time to import your portfolio of Asana projects into OnePager. Launch OnePager from your desktop:

Launch OnePager Bundle to import from Asana.

  8. On the OnePager start screen, choose New to start building a new Asana multi-project Gantt chart:

    OnePager start screen.

  9. From the import wizard, go to Select > BROWSE Asana:

    Browse Asana from OnePager.

If this is your first time using OnePager, Asana will ask you to securely into your account.

  10. Once connected to Asana, OnePager will display a list of all of the projects in the Asana account, including the three projects in the portfolio. Hold down the Ctrl key keyboard, and select all of the projects from the portfolio, which in this example are Project A, Project B, and Project C:

Select several projects to include in the timeline.

  11. Back on the import wizard, choose the OnePager Yes/No field to determine which Asana tasks should appear in your Gantt chart:

Filter your Asana project using a custom field

  12. To finish the import from Asana, click Create New Chart. OnePager will combine the three projects from the portfolio into a Gantt chart:
