-
To begin, make sure that Primavera P6 is calculating activity durations in hours and minutes instead of days. Go to Edit > User Preferences > Time Units and make sure that your Durations Format is set to Hour and that you have checked the Sub-unit box for Minutes:
-
On the Dates tab, check the Show Minutes box and then click Close:
-
Primavera P6 will now display a start and finish time for each activity in the project:
-
This example Primavera P6 project is very small, so it's reasonable to display all activities in our Gantt chart. However, if you want to select only certain activities to display from your own Primavera P6 project, you may want to add a user defined field called OnePager, and then enter Yes next to the activities that you want to include:
To add a user-defined field to Primavera P6, go to Enterprise > User Defined Fields and click the Add button to add a new user-defined field called OnePager.
-
Now, we want to export the P6 schedule to either XML or XER format, both of which can be imported by OnePager. Go to File > Export and follow the prompts to export the project:
-
Next, go to your desktop or Windows Start menu, and launch OnePager:
-
When the OnePager start screen appears, click on New to start building a new hourly Gantt chart from Primavera P6:
-
When the import wizard appears, choose Select > BROWSE Primavera P6 Files:
-
On the import wizard, go to Change > BROWSE FILES and select the template called Hourly View for Primavera. This template is specially-designed to work with hourly activity data from Primavera P6. This is also where you can select the OnePager user defined field to apply a filter to the Primavera P6 activities, if you added one in the earlier steps:
-
Click Create New Chart, and OnePager will import the selected activities from Primavera P6 to create an hourly Gantt chart, like this:
Here, the activity names are on the left-hand side of the Gantt chart. The start times are to the left of each activity and the finish times are to the right of each activity. The time axis shows the hours of the work day, though it can be sub-divided further to show quarter-hours if needed.
