Linking Predecessors and Successors in Smartsheet
To set up basic dependencies in Smartsheet, follow these steps:

To enable dependencies in Smartsheet, click on the gear at the top right, and under Dependencies Settings, select the Dependencies enabled checkbox.

In the same window, Project Settings, select which columns to use for the Predecessor and Duration:

In your Smartsheet project, locate the row that a predecessor is needed and type the row number for the item that comes first in the Predecessor column.

Changing the Relationship between Depdendencies
Once you have established basic dependencies in Smartsheet, you can adjust the logic between the predecessor and successor to create more complex relationships.

Left-click into the first cell under the Task Name column and type in the name of your task.

To change the relationship between dependents and their predecessors in Smartsheet, navigate to Edit Predecessors, which is accessible by selecting the predecessor cell and clicking the pencil on the right.

Choose from the following dependency types in the Edit Predecessors window.
- Finish-to-Start (FS): Start after the predecessor finishes.
- Finish-to-Finish (FF): Finish at the same time the predecessor finishes.
- Start-to-Start (SS): Start at the same time the predecessor starts.
- Start-to-Finish (SF): Finish before the predecessor starts.
Once done, hit OK.
